Full Container Load
A Full Container Load refers to a shipment where a single shipper's goods occupy an entire shipping container. The shipper pays for the whole container regardless of whether it is completely filled. FCL is the most common mode for large-volume shipments and typically offers lower per-unit shipping costs compared to shared container options.
In Freight Forwarding
FCL shipments are simpler to manage operationally because there is only one shipper and one consignee per container. The container is sealed at the shipper's premises and not opened until it reaches the consignee, reducing the risk of damage or loss. FCL rates are quoted per container (by size — 20ft or 40ft) and are generally more cost-effective for shipments exceeding around 15 cubic meters.
How CargoGen Handles It
CargoGen models FCL shipments with containers as first-class records: type, number, seal, VGM, stuffing, gate events and status. House and master bills, manifests and charges are generated from the same shipment record.
